Forbidden Fruit

Ain’t that the way it always starts? –
A simple round of conversation
Becomes a subtle flirtation
A suggestion, an invitation;
Torturous tantalization…

Hey –
What ill wind blew you round my way?
What is this game you want to play?
All those delicious words you say;
Lies –
So sweet…

Hush, now; settle down

Garments falling to the ground
Shame, shame, go away
Come again another day –
Hush, now; settle down
It’s baser instincts presiding
Jekyll’s gone into Hydeing
Heart on heart,
A two-track beat
On and on, and on repeat
Faster, faster – crushing heat
Sweaty bodies, dusty feet
And faster, and faster, faster go
Anticlimax the crescendo…
Everything freezes for a fraction;
A little shudder, a contraction;
A little sigh of satisfaction…
Hey –
C’mon, now, look the other way
There’s nothing more for us to say
Zipping noises, trouser hoisting –
Eyes avoiding.

Hush, now; settle down

Button up, don’t make a sound
Shame, shame; Go away!
Come again some other day
Use me up, spit me out
Leave me spent and broken on the ground
Shame, shame, here to stay
All over me – I can’t escape
Shame, shame, all over me
Like your lipstick on my skin.

To Believe or Not? Friend or Frenemy?

Should you trust your friend when they tell you your girlfriend or boyfriend is a fake? Should you consider it jealousy or do you go ahead and believe them? How do you handle the situation? James always kept an eye on his wife’s phone ever since his friend Timothy, told him he had spotted her in a compromising situation. He couldn’t divulge the details in case he was wrong but James was hell bent on finding the truth. He found nothing for the first two weeks and decided it was a bluff. He decided to surprise her and apologize for being such a dick the past two weeks. He got some beautiful flowers, got out of work some minutes before lunch and got to her workplace. He sat at a cafe just opposite their offices and called her up. Susan, his wife claimed to be so busy she couldn’t head out for lunch. A disappointed James got into his car and was about to head out of the parking lot when he spotted Susan get into a car right outside the office.  Out of curiosity, he f...

The Helping Dilemma

image originally from http://www.buzzle.com I always stumble upon this mentally ill guy as I get out of our estate. I am going to call him Jack. As I rush back home from work, I am sure to meet him somewhere having conversations with himself. Sometimes I wonder, as I turn off the lights and get into my warm bed, where does jack sleep and is it consistent? As I wash my clothes during the weekend, does Jack have clothes to change into? As I get into that shower after a long day at work, does Jack even have water to drink? As I enjoy that expensive meal at a Porsche hotel, does Jack have anything to eat? When I go out to meet my friends on a Friday night, does Jack have family let alone friends?  My conscience is always fighting. On one part it wants me to buy Jack some food or a cup of tea, to bring him some clothes and shoes to wear, to get him into lodging and let him get a shower, the list is endless. The other one wonders whether Jack will accept the kindness ...

The Annoying Matatu Neighbour

Have you encountered an annoying ‘Matatu’ neighbor? Have you ever been the annoying one? Ever pissed off someone in the ‘matatu’? Have you been pissed off while travelling?  ‘Matatu’s’ and buses often force us to be neighbors. Friendly or not depends on so many factors. Most of the time the journey ends with no mishaps but this is not always the case. Well there is the noisy loud music and some radio station that is not in a language you understand. There is also a rude tout who definitely has your change in his back pocket but for some reason (you may never understand) holds onto your change. There is a neighbor who keeps staring at you like you are from outer space and especially if you are a lady in a miniskirt. He for some reason is either imagining you without it at all or, she is cursing you for having better legs than her. Another will not quit chewing loudly and when they talk on the phone you get baptized with most of the saliva. Another is still in the 18th century...
